Ultra-light pistons and connecting rods, a large throttle-body opening and a free-flowing exhaust system are just a few ways we've optimized engine power without adding engine weight–creating an undeniable connection between driver and roadster.

SKYACTIV® TECHNOLOGY

In order to achieve the ideal balance of performance and efficiency, the MX-5 Miata underwent painstaking weight loss wherever possible–even the window glass is lighter. As a result, the MX-5 Miata has lost over 135 pounds¹⁰ from the previous generation, bringing its weight down to 2,341 pounds for manual transmission models. You may not see it, but you'll feel it as Skyactiv® Technology contributes to the MX-5's lightness around every corner.

6-SPEED MANUAL

The MX-5 Miata's Skyactiv®-MT 6-speed manual transmission has the short-throw precision drivers love when rowing through the gears. So whether you're cruising through curves or dashing down a straightaway, the MX-5 delivers an effortlessly exhilarating drive. A 6-speed automatic transmission with steering-wheel-mounted paddle shifters is also available.
